Thrive Thursday Placeholder
May Day! May Day!
Whatcha been doing with school-agers lately?
It's time, yes, time my friends, to share your blog posts of the wonder and magic you work with kids at your library - services, programs, thoughts, initiatives at our Thrive Thursday round-up.
I'll be publishing our monthly round-up in one short week on Thursday May 1 so now is the time to scroll through your blog goodness and send the goodies to me, your May host (yes, I DO have a basket of flowers, a woven flower crown and a Maypole at the ready).
Deadline to me is Wednesday April 30 at 5pm CST.
Please share your links to school age program magic in the comments below!

Here's our Spring Break stuff! Silly selfies were a great activity for kids to express themselves, and everyone like a scavenger hunt! http://brycedontplay.blogspot.com/2014/04/spring-break-at-library-stealth.html

ReplyDeleteHere is a series of posts about making book trailers with kids. You supply the creative space and access to computers, and the kids can run with this one on their own. (It's a great project for a multi-week engagement. One school librarian I know has a "Book Trailer Club" for her kids. Fun!!) http://www.dawnprochovnic.com/2013/01/capture-that-story-summary-post.html
ReplyDeleteIn this fun, educational multi-week program for school-agers, kids become the authors! (A fun culminating even is to have the student authors do "author appearance/readings" for your younger patrons). http://www.dawnprochovnic.com/2013/07/creating-picture-books-with-kids.html
ReplyDeleteHi Marge! I did it! Here's a post about the poetry display http://melissa.depperfamily.net/blog/?p=5347 xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe had an extremely successful poetry treasure hunt this month. I posted scanned pages from a dozen or so poetry books (with the book cover image placed on the scanned page so people would know where to look for other similar poems) and then kids could do the treasure hunt any time the library was open. We loved watching the enthusiasm as kids worked together with friends, or caregivers, or all by themselves to find the clues and solve the secret message for a prize!
